Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte stated that the anti-Russian sanctions cannot be lifted until the territorial integrity of Ukraine is restored as the Office of the President of Ukraine reported after Conte’s meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky at the UNGA sidelines.
“During the meeting, the parties discussed the importance of the continuation of the sanction policy against Russia. The Prime Minister of Italy noted that the sanctions cannot be lifted until the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine are restored,” the message said.
Earlier, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky offered Giuseppe Conte to create the joint investigation group to figure out the circumstances of the death of Italian photo correspondent Andrea Rocchelli in the east of Ukraine. Ukrainian serviceman Vitality Markiv was imprisoned for 24 years in Italy as he was accused of the murder of Rocchelli.
On September 23, the UN summit on climate changes has begun in New York.
U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence visited the summit.
As we reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in New York to participate in the 74th UN General Assembly.
During the speech at the UNGA, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he will delay the provision of the financial aid to Ukraine.
At the UNGA sidelines, Zelensky met NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. The parties discussed the issue of increasing the level of cooperation in the modernization of the Ukrainian Navy.
